VIDEO: Backpacking the Olympic Coast

September 4, 2015

IT'S FINALLY HERE, THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR, DRUM ROLL PLEASE...!

And all other manner of anticipational phrasery.

YES the Olympic Coast backpacking episode has arrived for your viewing pleasure!

In this episode, you will be granted access to 6.4 out of the 73 miles of Olympic National Park's wilderness coast. Unlike most coastlines in the United States, this tract of coastline has remained untouched and undeveloped by the human hand and is a pristine example of beachy beauty.

From La Push's Third Beach trailhead to Toleak Point, you will experience sea stacks, tide pools, rainy forests, and oodles of buoys...oodles I say!

Aside from the Great Blue Heron I captured on film, off film we saw sea otters, Kingfishers, and a plethora of unidentified flora and fauna. What I'm trying to say is, this coast is teaming with life and is a real treat to trek.

This was only my 3rd EVER backpacking trip, so I was thoroughly spoiled by the insanely glorious scenery the Olympic coast offers. On top of this impeccable scenery, the hike itself was titillating as ever with ropes-course-like traverses, rocky outcrops and caves, mammoth driftwood collections, and wonderful oceanside campsites. I couldn't get enough!

For the full effect, check out the video below and immerse yourself into this mesmerizing landscape:
